As captain, it was my job to get them all out of the trenches. Within the first four minutes of our first charge…20,000 men died. In Thorverton, down the road here…they were stationed in Morocco. Their captain bought them all home. I didn’t bring a single man back. This whole village died.

Marc Johns is an illustrator from Victoria, BC, Canada.  He creates whimsical drawings filled with dry wit and humour. Whether it’s a man with branches growing out of his head that need pruning, or a pipe that’s trying to quit smoking, his characters are simply, sparsely drawn, yet speak volumes with just a few strokes of the pen.
